The offseason is usually when players get time to recover, but this time, Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia also needed some medical care of his own. Over the weekend, he shared a personal health update, giving fans a clear look at what he was dealing with during the break.
Patricia revealed that he recently visited a neurosurgeon for an ongoing issue, though he did not go into graphic detail about the exact diagnosis. He described the visit as a necessary step after experiencing symptoms that required professional attention. The coach made it clear that the situation was serious enough to warrant a specialist's opinion, but he also expressed relief that the doctors caught things early.
According to Patricia, the medical team gave him a positive outlook moving forward. He said the procedure or treatment plan they recommended should allow him to return to full coaching duties without long-term complications. He emphasized that his focus remains on preparing the Buckeyes defense for the upcoming season, and he does not expect this health issue to sideline him during critical practice windows.
The update comes at a time when Ohio State is in the middle of its offseason training schedule. Patricia joined the staff earlier this year, and his health status had been a quiet concern among fans. Now, with this news, the program can move forward with more certainty. Patricia thanked the medical staff and said he is eager to get back to work with the team.
