Altru Hospital in Grand Forks has officially commenced an ambitious $18 million expansion aimed at significantly enhancing its mental health services. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 17, marking the beginning of a project that will double the hospital's mental health bed capacity from 24 to 48. This expansion is expected to address the growing demand for mental health care in the community, providing much-needed resources and support for individuals in crisis.
Governor Kelly Armstrong attended the ceremony and hailed the project as a “game changer” for the region. The increased capacity will not only allow for more patients to receive timely treatment but also improve the overall quality of care available. As mental health issues continue to rise, this initiative represents a crucial step towards ensuring that residents have access to essential services. The expansion is anticipated to have a lasting positive impact on the mental health landscape in Grand Forks and surrounding areas.
